Peanut Butter Space Jam features portraits rendered in oils, ink, acrylic and enamel on glass, and linocut print. These portraits explore expression as they respond to each other and hint at narratives.

Exhibited in relation instead of showcased in isolation, the pieces may seduce, agitate, befriend or grieve together as well as with the viewer.Recontextualized beyond the intent of the artists, the works share a laugh and provoke questions. Within the curated setting, the viewer is invited to develop and examine relationships with and between the portraits.

From fun to profundity, from friendship to antagonism, from intimacy to exposure, and from questions to answers, Peanut Butter Space Jam will strive to reveal these connections and more through the expression and movement in a human face.

The Artists
Robert Evans is an artist, illustrator and graphic designer. Born in California and raised in the northwest, Robert’s inspiration is rooted in the symbiotic west coast culture of subversive street art and skateboarding as well as in the history of comics. Simultaneously evoking graffiti, portraiture, pop art, surrealism, and contemporary media trends, Robert, through a mastery of painterly techniques and draftsmanship, investigates collision, obfuscation, comedy, absurdity, dissent and beauty. Robert can be emailed at rawbevans@gmail.com and found on facebook.

Chuck Knigge is a Seattle-based artist, illustrator/cartoonist and game designer. Known primarily for his comic illustration, Chuck has recently translated these skills to large scale paintings and drawings inspired by heartbreak, exploration, travel, genre-mixing, and storytelling. Chuck’s illustration can be found in Popgun Volume 2, Zombie Bomb! Volume 2, and The Spoils of Crime among others. Chuck is also a regular contributor to multiple podcasts including Television Zombies and Joint Ops Monthly. Chuck can be found on twitter, on facebook, and emailed at seaknigge@gmail.com.
